Share

Victoria’s scheduled residential leaf pick-up program began today Monday, November 9.

Residents can place their leaves in loose piles or in tied, clear, 100% compostable bags on the boulevard for pick-up. There is no limit to the number of leaf piles or bags of leaves that can be set out.

Victoria residents are asked to have their leaves on the boulevard for pick-up by the following neighbourhood dates:
– Fairfield/ Rockland/ Gonzales – Monday, November 9
– Fernwood/ Oaklands/ North and South Jubilee – Monday, November 23
– Downtown/ Victoria West/ James Bay – Monday, December 7
– Burnside-Gorge/ Harris Green/ Hillside-Quadra/North Park – Monday, December 14

Until December 18, 2015, Victoria residents can also contact the City Parks office at (250) 361- 0600 and arrange for their bagged leaves to be picked up from the boulevard for free within five working days.

Clear, 100% compostable bags can be purchased at the Public Service Centre at Victoria City Hall and at the Crystal Pool and Fitness Centre. A package of 10 bags is available for $12.50 plus tax.

Leaf piles and leaves in tied, clear 100% compostable bags should be placed on the boulevard and be visible and accessible from the street. To avoid flooding and slipping hazards, leaves and bags are not to be placed on sidewalks, in gutters or on the street.
