A dash cam video captures an SUV losing control in snowy conditions yesterday, near the Qualicum Beach exit.
The video, captured by Brian Hartt, shows two vehicles passing him, travelling northbound on highway 19. As he was about to exit at Qualicum Beach, the SUV was passing and as it moves farther north in the fast lane the driver loses control and spins out, striking a hydro pole which then takes down a lamp standard before coming to a stop.
The speed limit in the area is 120 kilometre, Hartt estimates the vehicle was going about 100 kilometres an hour, but the road was slushy at the time.
Hartt says it doesn’t appear anyone was injured.
