First debuting in the winter of 2014, YYJ Rocktographers collects a variety of visual perspectives through the concert photos of dozens of local photographers.
Uniting photographers through their common passion for live musical documentation is a theme that proves popular with Victorians. Rocktographers has now grown into a small media outlet with a focus on reviewing local concerts and music festivals, rockstar interviews, and photographing everything they can in between gallery showcases.
“Rocktographers aims to strengthen connections between local media, musicians, and a wider community audience” says Tyson Elder, founder of Rocktographers. “By capturing local musical culture through a spectrum of perspectives, we celebrate the lively and unique environment of musical performance in Victoria and beyond.”
This year, the 3 day event is expanding and organizers expect this event to be their biggest and best event EVER!
The event is moving from Vic42 to Fort Tectoria to be able to feature the concert photography of more Rocktographers on beautiful birch-mounted prints from The PRINT Lab in a bigger venue with more live music!
This two-night gala event will feature live local music with full bands. Both nights are licensed in the evenings, so make sure you’re thirsty for some local beverages.
When: January 22nd and 24th!
Where: 777 Fort Street
Cost: $15 for both nights (Friday & Saturday) or $10 for one night.
Tickets can only be purchased online, if you can’t make it down for the nighttime events, be sure to visit Saturday or Sunday from noon-5 p.m. by donation! Purchase tickets for both nights, or get single night tickets.
