A woman who was struck by a vehicle in Central Saanich Friday night has succumbed to her injuries.

The crash happened just before 9pm last night in the 2300 block of Mount Newton Cross Road, between Pat Bay Highway and Central Saanich Road. The area was closed off for several hours as Saanich Crash analyst investigated the scene.

It appears the male driver in the SUV was proceeding eastbound. Police say there is no evidence that alcohol or speed played a part in the accident. He remained at the scene and, according to police, will not face any charges.

The female pedestrian, in her late 40’s, was pronounced dead at hospital.

Central Saanich police are looking to speak with any witnesses that can help out in the on-going investigation.  If you have any information please call 250 652 4441
