Update: Second suspect arrested in bank robbery at Broadmead Village

Shortly after 3:30 PM this Saturday, Saanich Police responded to a robbery at the Royal Bank near Broadmead Village.

A lone male entered the bank, approached a teller, and demanded money.

No weapon was produced, and after receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled outside and jumped into a car that was waiting for him outside the bank.

Saanich Police were quickly on scene and located the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, 46 year old Trevor Thurston, was arrested, however a passenger managed to escape apprehension.

The following day, Saanich Police were able to identify, locate and arrest the passenger. A 27 year old Saanich man, who has had prior contact with police.

He is facing one count of robbery and will appear before the courts later today.

“We’re very pleased to announce the second male in this robbery has been located and arrested in such a short period of time.” A/Sgt. Jereme Leslie said.
