Saanich Police and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in Saanich on Thursday for property crime and drugs.

Saanich Police property crime and drug investigators began a joint investigation about two months ago at 871 Marigold Rd.

Police arrested a 41 year old male resident and a 38 year old woman at the home.

A significant amount of drugs were recovered from the home including, crack cocaine, heroin and crystal methamphetamine.

Also seized during the search were, body armour, stolen property and a large cache of weapons – including swords, knives, bear spray, conducted energy weapons, many replica firearms and a rifle.

The 41 year old man well-known to Saanich Police, will be appearing in court today.  Police are recommending over 30 various charges at this time.

“This lifelong criminal was conducting a drug operation across the street from a park that is well used by many children and community groups.  We feel that our community is now safer with this prolific offender off the streets,” A/Sgt. Jereme Leslie said.

“I have lived in the area for 10 years. I have two young children and frequent the park often. It’s kind of scary to know this was going on so close to home. I’m glad the police put a stop to it,” a local resident told Victoria Buzz today.
