The Salvation Army and Our Place Society  willprovide emergency accommodation for displaced tenants of the Traveller’s Inn

Dozens of long-term tenants of the severely fire damaged Traveller’s Inn gathered in the Quadra Street Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) for an emergency meeting on Tuesday evening.

Several Emergency Response Services including first providers and emergency social services attended in an effort to find temporary solutions for the displaced tenants after a fire occurred on site.

Despite limited resources, both The Salvation Army and Our Place Society stepped up to offer shelter as a temporary solution in response to a highly stressful situation.

The Salvation Army is able to facilitate the inclusion of youth, women, and families in the lodging being offered.

Executive Director Major Brian Slous of The Salvation Army ARC said that, “We are honoured to respond to the needs of these folks and serve them during this time of crisis, and also offer ongoing support wherever we can.”

Should those impacted by the fire have need of shelter support from The Salvation Army, please call ARC at 250 384 3396.

For needs other than shelter, please call The Salvation Army Stan Hagen Centre for Families at 250 386 8521.
