Details for Const. Sarah Beckett Regimental Funeral including viewing locations

The public is invited to join the family of Constable Sarah Beckett and law enforcement as they celebrate her service and mourn her death during an RCMP Regimental Funeral, on Tuesday, April 12.

The Island Highway will be closed to all vehicle traffic between Wilfert Road and Wale Road from approximately 11:30 am to 2 pm for the march.

There will be a procession of about 4,000 police and emergency responders marching down the highway. The march will commence around 1 pm, the public is welcomed to line the procession route.

The route will begin on Wilfert Road, turning south down the Island Highway and turn left at the Greater Victoria Public Library, continuing down the service road, behind the Westshore Parks and Recreation Centre and finishing at the Q Centre.

Funeral services will take place at the Q Centre. While there are designated seats for the public at the Q Centre, those are expected to be filled quickly.

All those planning to attend Q Centre will need to be seated by 12:45 p.m.

Due to the outpouring support from the public, a primary public viewing location for the services will be held at Westhills Stadium, at 1089 Langford Parkway. The public is asked to be seated at this venue by 1:45 p.m.

WestShore Parks and Recreation will also have a viewing area in the Juan de Fuca arena and curling rink. Must be seated by 12:45pm.

BC Transit will be augmenting its service levels to support those attending the memorial and have posted the adjustments on their website.

The Spouses of the RCMP are asking you to Wear Red in support of fallen RCMP Officer, Sarah Beckett.
