Convicted teen killer Kelly Ellard denied day parole

Share

Kelly Ellard’s request for day parole has been denied.

A spokesperson for the parole board say they don’t feel Ellard can be safely released into the community yet. Their decision was based on several issues including not accepting enough responsibility, associating with bad influences, and crystal meth use.

At the hearing, Ellard admits pushing Reena Virk into the water, but did not confess to holding her head under the water.

Ellard, who turned 33 in August, was 15 years old in November 1997 when she smashed Virk’s head against a tree and then held the Grade 9 student’s head underwater until she stopped moving.

According to CTV, the parole board did not like Ellard’s sense of entitlement. While making her case for day parole, she said “enough is enough”.

Ellard can’t re-apply for day parole for at least another year but she can apply for lesser forms of release.
