Discovery Street to close for outdoor benefit concert for Fort McMurray evacuees

Share

The Duke Saloon is hosting an indoor/outdoor benefit concert this Thursday for the residents evacuated from the Fort McMurray fires.

After spending an evening calling and messaging friends in the fire-torn region, checking to see if everyone they knew there was safe, the team at Duke Saloon felt they could all do something to help.

Regulars, including The Tumblin Dice, The County Line and Backstage Whiskey have all agreed to play for free and bar staff are donating their tips. The Duke will also donate from drink sales.

Money raised from the evening will go directly to Red Cross and that means the donations will be matched by the Canadian government and the Alberta government – essentially tripling any donations.

Update: ✪ Bring the kids down – everyone is welcome outside, all ages for the 7pm-10pm show. The City Of Victoria has given the country bar permission to shut down Discovery Street in front of The Duke Saloon.
