Explorer of the Seas: the largest cruise ship to ever visit Victoria

The Greater Victoria Harbour Authority welcomed the inaugural call of Royal Caribbean International’s Explorer of the Seas today. The 311-meter-long vessel is the largest cruise ship to ever visit Victoria.

The Explorer of the Seas carries 3,114 passengers. Guests and cruise arrived at 8am today and received an official welcome from members of the city’s cruise and tourism industry.

The boat will remain docked a pier b until 5pm today.

There will be 227 ship calls to Ogden Point this season, with close to 533,000 passengers.

The overall economic impact of the cruise ship industry for the Greater Victoria region is estimated at more than $100 million/year.
