A 61-year-old man was arrested on Friday after travelling to Victoria with plans to sexually abuse a child.
Brian Steve Bandura of Edmonton, allegedly travelled to Victoria with the intention to sexually abuse a 5-year-old child.
Officers from the Special Victims Unit were investigating Bandura online for weeks with detectives keeping a watchful eye on him. He was arrested upon his arrival in Victoria.
According to police, this was not a random event and at no time was the public or a child at risk.
CHEK News is reporting both alleged offences took place between April 6 and May 27th 2016.
He has now been charged with making an arrangement to commit a sexual offence against someone he believed to be under 16, and making or possessing child pornography.
Bandura was released on bail under several strict conditions including no contact with minors, or accessing the internet. His next court appearance is on June 22nd.
