There are so many events happening around town this long weekend! We tried to gather as many as possible – if we missed any, add to our events calendar or comment below!

FRIDAY – 20th

Luxton Fair

  • What: Westcoast Amusement Preview Night begins at 3:00pm, $29.00 for an all day wristband. FREE ground admission.
  • Where:  Luxton Fair Grounds

Victoria Shamrocks Season Opener

  • What: vs. Nanaimo Timbermen. Get ready for an action-pack Lacrosse season. First 300 FANS receive a White Spot Triple “o” burger by donation. Game begins at 7:45pm
  • Where: The Q centre, 1767 Island Highway

TICKETS: $15/adult, $12.50/senior, $10/ youth and students, $5.50/children 5-12 years old, children under 4 FREE

Victoria International Kite Festival

  • What: Everyone is welcome to kick-off this weekends event with ‘Kites with Lights’ featuring LED lit kites gliding though the night skies with music from 9:30-10:30pm.
  • Where: Clover Point, along Dallas Road

Ballet Victoria

  • What: A delightful story of Cinderella. This family show with reimagined designs, costumes and unique choreography will leave you enchanted. Showtime at 7:30pm.
  • Where: Royal Theatre, 805 Broughton Street

Love is Love 2016

What: A youth pride conference which is focused on youth empowerment and education. A safe place for youth of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies alike to celebrate their  pride in who they are. Event FREE, including lunch. Take Pride in yourself from 8:00am-3:30pm.
Where: Lambrick Park Secondary School, 4139 Torquay Drive

SATURDAY – 21st

Greater Victoria Festival Society Events – Parade of Bands and 2nd Annual Drum Off

  • What: 2 bands from Killarney High School will performing at the lower area of the museum at 4:00pm. Kentlake High School will be performing at the Inner Harbour at 5:00pm
  • Where: Royal BC Museum, Inner Harbour

Luxton Fair

  • What: FREE grounds admission, open from 12:00-6:00pm. Carnival Midway Rides begins at 1:00pm – $37 for an all day wristband. Antique farm equipment, heritage displays, VI blacksmith, vendor booths and so much more.
  • Where: Luxton Fair Grounds

Regular Ticket Prices: $1.25/ single gold coupon, $23.00/red book (20 tickets), $45.00/blue book (40 tickets). All rides take between 3-7 tickets. 

Victoria International Kite Festival

  • What: Opportunity to watch some of the world’s top professional kite fliers and participate in this open-sky event. Daily programming from 9:00am-5:00pm will feature kid activities, kite making, entertainment and much more.
  • Where: Clover Pointe, along Dallas Road

Young Entrepreneur Event

  • What: Let’s support the youth in our community. This is an opportunity for children to make some money by selling their creations, baked goods, jewellery, crafts and anything else they can create. Admission is FREE, there will be raffle draws, bouncy castle and more. Event from 10:00am-2:00pm.
  • Where: Pearkes Recreation Centre, 3100 Tillicum Road

The Robert Bateman Centre’s Junior Nature Sketch Club

  • What: Experience art outdoors, guided by a naturalist and sketch artist. Event for children age 5-12 years old, $50/child includes sketch book and pencil and an exhibition at centre. Event from 9:30-11:30am or 1:00-3:00pm. Email marketing@batemancentre.org to register.

Ballet Victoria: Cinderella

  • What: A delightful story of Cinderella. This family show with reimagined designs, costumes and unique choreography will leave you enchanted. Showtime at 2:00pm.

153rd Victoria Highland Games & Celtic Festival

  • What: This annual event is known for elite competitors coming from all around the world to participate in the heavy event competition, drum competitions, pipe band competitions. Witness the highland dance competition, a sheepdog herding competition, tug of war competition and so much more. Event from 8:00am-7:00pm.
  • Where: Topaz Park, corner of Blanshard and Finlayson

Western Speedway – Keg Late Models

  • What: Featuring the Keg Steakhouse & Bar Late Model Drivers Challenge Twin 50’s, Richlock Rentals Sprint Cars, Galaxy Motors Stock Cars, Mini Stocks & Old Timers Racing Association. Grandstands opens at 4:30pm
  • Where: Western Speedway

Stars on Ice: 2016 Tour

  • What: Three-time World Champion and two-time Silver medalist Elvis Stokjo, along with Olympic Gold Medalist Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, Olympic Silver medalist Patrick Chan, World Pair Champions Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford and more will perform in this must see spectacular ice show. Tickets still available, showtime 7:30pm.
  • Where: Save On Foods Memorial Centre, 1925 Blanchard Street

Cheese and Meat Festival

  • What: Attendees will have the leisure to enjoying bite size tastes of cheese and meats while pairing the bites with wine, beer and cider. Various BC vendors on site. Tickets still available.
  • Where: Parkside Victoria Resort & Spa, 810 Humboldt Street

Goldstream Farmers Market

  • What: Opening day! Fresh produce which is homegrown, hand-crafted goods from local artisans, enjoy lunch and baked goods. Live entertainment on site. Market open from 10:00am-2:00pm
  • Where: Veteran’s Memorial Park

James Bay Market

  • What: Quality handmade, homemade and homegrown products for everyone to enjoy. Enjoy locally roasted coffee and seasonal drinks. Kids tent on site offering crafts, games, face painting and fun shops. Market open from 9:00am-3:00pm
  • Where: Corner of Menzies and Superior Street

Moss Street Market

  • What: “Make It, Bake It, Grow It” organic farmers market. Local artisans and chefs offering a selection of their tasty creations. Everything is local and produced by the person at the stall. 10:00am-2:00pm.
  • Where: Moss and Fairfield Road

Sooke Country Market

  • What: Fresh local vegetables and fruit, baked treats and breads, jams, plants, flowers and seeds, eggs, crafts, handmade items from local artisans. Market open from 10:00am-2:00pm
  • Where: Otter Point Road and Eustace Road

Spot Prawn Festival 2016 

  • What: FREE event celebrating Spot Prawn season. Live prawns available for purchase, various vendors on site, wine sampling, live local musicians, kids activities, local artisans and chef demonstrations at 12:00pm, 1:00pm and 2:00pm. Event takes place from 11:00am-5:00pm.
  • Where: Victoria Public Market, 1701 Douglas Street

Metchosin Farmers Market

  • What: Fresh home grown veggies and freshly backed goods, purchase hand made arts and crafts. Something for everyone to enjoy.
  • Where: 4450 Happy Valley Road

MONDAY – 23rd

117th Island Farms Victoria Day Parade

  • What: Led by the Canadian Forces this annual parade will be featuring Canadian and American marching bands, floats, cultural shows and festive clowns. Parade will begin at 9:00am, expect road closures and delays within in traffic.
  • Where: Downtown Victoria, begins at Mayfair Mall and continues along Douglas Street, finishing at the intersection of Douglas and Humboldt Street.

Greater Victoria Concert Band

  • What: Following their performance in the parade, musicians with GVCB will be performing tunes featuring music of Glen Miller, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey and Count Basie. Performance from 1:00-2:30pm.
  • Where: Market Square, 560 Johnson Street
