Gaby’s is a family-owned and operated seaside restaurant in Esquimalt. A local gem, well-loved by residents and the neighbouring military base.
All the food is in-house made: from the burger patties to the pastas; the turkey and roast beef are roasted in-house; the soups and gravies and all of salad dressings are made from scratch; and finally the mouthwatering desserts are made lovingly by Jesse and Pam.
The homemade desserts have to be sampled to be believed! Lemon Meringue pie, carrot cake, coconut cream pie, apply crisp, several different cheesecakes and a luscious strawberry lemonade cake!
There are some gluten-free choices available, as well as gluten-free bread for burgers or sandwiches. The restaurant is kid-friendly with a special kid’s menu for the little ones.
There is plenty of entertainment to be enjoyed at Gaby’s with an open mic every Wednesday night at 7:30p.m. and live music every weekend. Check out the Facebook Page for more details on who is going to be playing.
Gaby’s is also fitted out with two big screen TVs in the Sports Room, which fill up with local fans to watch the games, and that can also be booked for private functions – at no cost!
Located by the water at the West Bay Marina, it is no surprise that one of the biggest hits is the battered fish and chips. Grab a family pack to take out, or sit at one of the two patios, enjoying the sunshine, away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist district.
Situated along the Songhees Walkway you can stroll over by the Inner Harbour from town, or take one of the Harbour Ferries. Reward yourself when you arrive with a local beer on tap from Hoyne, Phillips or Vancouver Island Brewery, or grab a cocktail from the full bar.
*The restaurant is named after Emmanuel Gaboury, the family patriach, a Morse code operator in Italy during the war, nicknamed “Gaby”. His pictures are proudly displayed on the walls.
