The first brush fire call came in shortly after 12 pm. Two of the fires were set near 6 Mile exit, and the third further north near the Millstream Road exit at the Langford border.

The 6 Mile exit fires merged into one covering about a hectare in size. View Royal, Colwood and Capital Regional District firefighters battled that blaze, while Langford fire crew dealt with the third fire.

Evidence was found at the scene of the fires to support them being deliberately set. The RCMP are now investigating.

Saanich Police are also investigating two suspicious fires that occurred in the early hours on Monday. Saanich Firefighters were called to a small grass fire and shortly after, they were dispatched down the road to a fire at the at Home Lumber and Building Supplies on Ardersier Road at 3 am.
According to officials,  all fires are being considered suspicious but it is too early to link them.
If you have any information on any of these fires, you are asked to call police.
