A 56-year-old Sooke woman is facing impaired driving charges after West Shore RCMP pulled her over in Langford, after they received reports of a possible impaired driver.

The caller observed the brown pick-up truck driving erratically on Sooke Rd, in Langford shortly before 8 pm Tuesday night.

Police officers located the vehicle and say the driver displayed strong signs of alcohol impairment. The grandma was also travelling with her 4 year old grandson next to her in the front seat.

Nobody was hurt and the grandson was turned over to a sober and responsible family member without any incident.

If it wasn’t because of the person reporting this impaired driver, who knows what the potential tragic outcome this could have been. states Cst. Alex Bérubé, spokesperson of the West Shore RCMP. This is sadly another reason why we relentlessly target impaired drivers.

The woman is facing charges of impaired driving and received an immediate roadside suspension.
