A four-year-old girl has died in Parksville after she was hit by a vehicle while riding a skateboard.
The incident happened around 2:30pm at Paradise Adventure RV Resort on Wednesday.
Oceanside RCMP said the young girl was riding the skateboard while lying on her stomach, lost control and veered into the vehicle. Police said the vehicle, an SUV according to witnesses, was moving slowly through the campground.
An off-duty doctor was one of the first on the scene to provide aid to the girl. Paramedics transported her to a near-by truck weigh scale to a waiting Air Ambulance. Sadly, she died just before being boarded onto the air ambulance.
The investigation is ongoing, no charges are being laid at this time, said Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman.
