The 149th Saanich Fair is around the corner and like last year organizers are anticipating record crowds.
With the growth comes growing pains, and they certainly saw that last season when hundreds of car were lined down Wallace and Stelly’s X road for blocks. Some fair-goers say they were stuck in the traffic for nearly an hour, while local residents couldn’t get around the traffic snarl.
To ensure a smoother year and to make sure everyone has an ‘Eggs-cellent” time, fair organizers announced on Facebook they will be bringing in additional traffic controllers to manage the traffic flow at the Wallace and Stelly’s intersection for the entire three days.
This year’s theme at the fair is eggs, in case you are wondering!
“As some of you may remember we had quite a traffic jam here last year,” the Facebook post reads. “We’re happy to inform you that we have hired traffic flaggers for all three days. They will be directing traffic at the intersection of Wallace and Stelly’s as well as being on the road in front of two or the entrance ways.”
Headline entertanment at this year fair includes Jesse Roper and Trooper.
