Drugs now appear to be a factor in the 3-hour standoff in Langford on Saturday.

Police said they received multiple calls of a man who appeared to be in crisis, in the 800 block of Langford Pkwy.

Responding officers located 36-year-old Michael Godolphin, at the corner of Veterans Memorial Pkwy and Langford Pkwy waving a gun around.

The first responding officers at the scene said they heard a least two shots being fired. According to the Times Colonist, the agitated man fired towards police.

A large area around Veterans Memorial Parkway was blocked off, and the nearby Rona evacuated, as police negotiated with Godolphin.

Additional resources were called in, including the emergency response members, and a crisis negotiator.

After that, officers waited the man out, talked him down for about three hours, until he gave himself up about 8 p.m.
West Shore RCMP have put forward a list of unknown charges to crown counsel. Nobody was injured.
