If you’re looking for a horrifying scare this October, the new Monsters Haunted House at Ogden Point is your best bet.

Formerly Evil Acres in North Saanich, this attraction is now in a 5,000 square foot warehouse, but operated under the same ownership.

“We always try and do different things,” Randall Carnell, Overlord of Monsters Haunted House (some might call him owner and operator) tell us.

Carnell won’t reveal too much about what he has planned for this year, but, much like its name, he promises the house will be full of Monsters. He has also alluded that there “might be a little blood”, some flashing lights, lots of live actors, and other spooky elements that tend to go bump in the night.

“When you think of a good horror movie it captures it all – it’s an emotional rollercoaster,” he added that the lighting, music and ambiance all play a role in how scared you will be.

Of course, some scare more easily than others. There’s apparently a wide spectrum of reactions when people visit his haunted creations, ranging from those too “chicken” to even go in, to others who come out laughing. In the end though, it’s all fun and entertainment, which is Carnell’s main goal.

Monsters Haunted House is technically open to almost all ages, but the owner advises parents against taking young children, as it’s “more for big kids.” With Carnell’s previous haunted houses possessing names like “Slaughterhouse Extreme”, it makes sense that parents might think twice before bringing a small child.

Ultimately, visitors are promised an entertaining experience that will be sure to deliver scares – for those who are brave enough to visit.

Monsters Haunted House is open from October 13 to 31 from 6:30pm to 11pm (open at 6pm until 11:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays).

Tickets are $13 each (if you bring a non-perishable food item you get $1 off admission), and available at the Monsters Haunted House ticket booth (cash only), or at Incharacter Costumes located inside the Hillside and Westshore Centers (also cash only).

Monsters Haunted House is located at Pier A, 203 Dallas Road at Ogden Point.
