Share

The City of Langford is launching a new bus service with the hopes of getting people commuting from the West Shore out of their cars, in order to reduce some traffic congestion.

The high-end bus dubbed “Langtoria Greenline”, will be run by Wilson Transportation. The new service will start with one 50-passenger bus, with plans to add more buses in the future, if it proves to be popular.

Langford residents will be able to to sign-up for the service for around $100-dollars a month, or about $5 a day for those commuting to work five days a week.

Perks are expected to include on-board free coffee and newspapers, as well as Wi-Fi so passengers can work.

Early trials show the trip into downtown Victoria from Langford will take about 45 minutes if it starts around 7 a.m. The return trip is about one hour.

Stops and departure times have not been finalized. However, pickup points in Langford will include the Luxton area, Westhills near the YMCA/YWCA and a location in downtown Langford. Stops in town will likely include Uptown, and along the Douglas Street corridor near the downtown core before stopping at Capital City Station at Crystal Garden.

The new service is expected to launch on October 17.
