14 things to do around Victoria this weekend: Oct 21-Oct 23

It’s Friday, or more specifically, the weekend! Get out and do something. Here are fourteen things to do around Victoria this weekend.

 

Country Night at the Royals

  • What: Victoria Royals vs. Swift Current Broncos. Make sure to wear your country gear. If you don’t have any, well you’re in luck – the first 500 fans will receive a cowboy hat courtesy of Tim Hortons upon entry. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Royal’s Country Night keychain upon entrance at Gate 1. Intermission activities, including three fans demonstrating their best country holler.
  • When: Friday October 21, puck drops 7:05pm

Annual Apple Pie Celebration

  • What: Once again apple pie is being celebrated at Moss Street Market! The pies always sell out FAST (usually within an hour). $5 for three samples. Profits going to Growing Chefs, Dandelion Society, and Moss Street Market.
  • When: Saturday October 22, 10:30am
  • Where: Moss Street Market, 1330 Fairfield Road

Victoria Royals Celebrates Marty the Marmot’s Birthday!!

  • What: Victoria Royals vs. Everett Silvertips. Let’s celebrate – Marty’s turning ELEVEN!! Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to sign his birthday card before the game and enjoy some cake. Ace (Saanich PD), Slider (Panorama Recreation), Rocky Racoon (Victoria Shamrocks), Striker (Victoria Highlanders) and Turbo (Harbour Air) will be in joining Marty to celebrate.
  • When: Saturday October 22, puck drops at 7:05pm

Monster Haunted House

  • What:”FEAR ON THE PIER” – a 5,000 square foot haunted warehouse like no other – are you ready to be scared?
  • When: open now until October 31 from 6:30-11:00pm
  • Where: Pier A – 203 Dallas Road
  • Admission: $13, tickets available at the door and at The Character, located at Hillside and West Shore Shopping Centers

Vancouver Island Corn Maze at Pendray Farms

  • What: The island’s biggest corn maze with 14 acres of maze and 10km of walking trails in this British Columbia-themed maze. Hours of fun for the whole family.
  • When: open now Thursday – Sunday until October 30 from 1:00-9:00pm
  • Where: Penury Farm, 9537 West Saanich Road
  • Admission: $10/adult or $25/adult season pass; $5/child or $15/child season pass; under 5 FREE

Art Of The Cocktail: GRAND TASTING

  • What: Dress in your fabulous After Five attire to sample cocktails created by local restaurants, new regional distilleries, and Global Brand Ambassadors. Enjoy appetizers from some of the most innovative chefs on the West Coast.This year the theme is: 1950’s Havana
  • When: 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm on Saturday, October 22
  • Where: The Crystal Garden, 713 Douglas St
  • Admission: Tickets are $65 (all food, drink, and activity is included in ticket price), 19+ event

Galey Farms – Pumpkinfest

  • What: Pumpkinfest, kid friendly ghost town, hayrides, corn maze, train rides, petting farm, haunted house, face painting and more.
  • When: open Saturday and Sundays until October 30 from 10:00am-4:00pm
  • Where: 4150 Blenkinsop Road
  • Admission: rates available here

Festival of Fear at Galey Farms

  • What: Carnival haunted house for adults only, cornfield of horror and make sure to hop on board the crazy train.
  • When: nightly until October 31 from 6:00-10:00pm
  • Where: 4150 Blenkinsop Road
  • Admission: rates available here

Halloween Pumpkin Express

  • What: Board the train and take a journey through the haunted house and the forest. Have a spookatcular time pumpkin carving, face painting, go on the graveyard scavenger hunt story walk and more.
  • When: Friday October 21 – Sunday October 23 from 4:30-8:80pm.
  • Where: Heritage Acres
  • Admission: $7/car load and ride the Pumpkin Express by donation.

Stein and Dine 

  • What: An Oktoberfest Celebration, enjoy traditional Oktoberfest food and craft beer from around BC. Live accordion, dancers, beer pong and giant Roast Jenga.
  • When: Saturday October 22 at 7:30pm
  • Where: Victoria Public Market
  • Tickets: $45 available online, includes 1 glass stein, 3 drink tickets and 1 food ticket

17th Annual Japanese Cultural Fair

  • What: Featuring traditional Japanese cuisine, entertainment, live music, dancing, Japanese tea ceremony and calligraphy.
  • When: Saturday October 22 from 10:00am-4:00pm
  • Where: Esquimalt Recreation Centre, 527 Fraser Street
  • Admission: FREE

Just for Laughs presents Hannibal Buress

  • What: A popular Emmy and WGA Award nominated comedian, writer and actor.
  • When: Saturday October 22 at 7:30pm
  • Where: Royal McPherson Playhouse
  • Tickets: $55.50, available to purchase online

Ballet Rocks with Vivaldi’s Four Season

  • What: This performance takes you on an original West Coast tale where First Nations art and mythology drive a wild and beautiful ballet. Music by the Eagles, Disturbed and more.
  • When: Friday October 21 and Saturday October 22 from 7:30-11:00pm and Sunday October 23
  • Where: Royal McPherson Playhouse
  • Tickets: starting at $23.50, available online

Ross Bay Cemetery Tour

  • What: Mediums Debra Doerkson and Diana-Lynn Beatty will lead a walk through the cemetery and share information from the location or the spirits they encounter.
  • When: Sunday, October 23. Tour starts at 2pm. The cost is $5 for non-members;  $2 for members.
  • Where: Meet at 1:45pm to purchase a ticket from John Adams in front of Oregano’s, Fairfield Plaza, 1516 Fairfield Rd. No reservations needed.
