Those of you that have been to the Vancouver Island corn maze, and received the Farm Scene Investigation (FSI) Detective badge, will know this is the real deal.
Stacey Fitzsimmons was at the corn maze on Thanksgiving Monday, and while playing in the newly added corn pit, she noticed something precious was missing.
“My friend joked that he was glad his ring was still on. I looked down and discovered mine was gone,” Stacey tells Victoria Buzz.
She realized instantly her wedding ring had got lost in the corn, “I never take it off, not for dishes, swimming, or anything.”
Stacey assumed it was lost forever since finding would be akin to finding a needle in a haystack.
Staff at the corn maze however, went immediately into detective mode – spending the evening with bright lights and little shovels, sifting through the corn. Eventually they got hold of a friend with a metal detector.
After hours of sifting through the corn box into the late hour, with metal detector on hand – they located the ring!
Upon receiving the phone call that her treasure had been found, Stacey tells us, “I was floored and thrilled. Our 10-year anniversary next year will be a little bit sweeter !”
Fitzsimmons is recommending people check out the corn maze, “Both because it’s awesome fun, AND because the owners are truly kind people. They seem modest, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they were underestimating their effort.”
The Vancouver Island Corn Maze is open Thursday to Sunday, from 1 – 9pm, until October 30.
