Fire investigators are appealing for witnesses after two fires on Monday morning were determined to be intentionally set.

The first fire was in a courtyard behind an autobody shop on Dunedin Street. Witnesses called 911 after they heard several explosions and saw the blaze.

When fire crews arrived, items were exploding and several vehicles stored in the courtyard were fully engulfed in flames. The fire then jumped to the building, torching the outside walls.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze within 15 minutes of arriving. Two businesses suffered $230,000 in damage.

Not long after,  another fire broke out on a dock on the Selkirk Waterway in the 800-block of Central Spur Road.  Victoria Fire Department firefighters were called to the scene and once again doused the flames.

Fire investigators have determined that both fires were intentionally set.

Investigators are looking to speak to witnesses in both of these fires. If you have any information you are asked to call the VicPD non-emergency line at (250) 995-7654. Call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-(800)-222-8477 to report what you know anonymously.
