Malahat safety improvements information session

Learn more about the plans to enhance safety along the Malahat. In the works are over three kilometres of new median barrier, five kilometres of four-laning and numerous access and intersection improvements.

Staff from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will be available to go over the information, answer questions and provide further details on the project.

What: Drop-in information session, regarding plans to improve the Malahat section of the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1) between Shawnigan Lake Road and Aspen Road.
When: Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 between 3:30-7:30 pm
Where: Brentwood College Campus, Mill Bay, B.C.

In July 2016, $34 million was committed for the Malahat Safety Improvements project. The Province of B.C. ($20,000,000) and the Government of Canada ($14,000,000).

  • When the Malahat Village upgrade is finished, there will be an 11-kilometre-long section of highway with continuous median barrier between Finlayson Arm Rd and the Malahat Summit. In total over 65% of the Malahat corridor will be median divided upon completion of the project.
