A Victoria police officer is recovering and a man is facing charges, after officers responded to a domestic assault.
A 911 call came in around 8:45 p.m. last night, but upon answering no one responded to the call-taker. The 911 Communications Centre staff member who took the call heard the sounds of an assault in progress and was able to quickly determine the location.
While officers were en-route, the victim of the assault managed to get away from her attacker and lock herself in the bathroom.
Officers arrived and located the suspect, who became aggressive while being taken into custody. One officer received non-life-threatening injuries and was admitted to hospital for treatment. The officer has since been released and is recovering.
The suspect is now facing charges for breaching conditions and for assault.
