Friday, Nov 11

Remembrance Day

  • What: Canadians across the country will mark Remembrance Day on Nov. 11 by attending ceremonies to pay their respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. There will also be related events such as concerts on and leading up to the day. See our List of Remembrance Day ceremonies and events around Greater Victoria for details of locations and times.

39th Annual Creative CRAFT FAIRS

  • What: One of Vancouver Island’s largest and most popular fairs, showcasing over 125 professional exhibitors from all over BC. Shop for beautiful Christmas gifts, including specialty food, stained glass, jewelry, paintings, sculpture and much more. Food by Truffles Catering, DJ on site, and special Guest Greg Joy will be playing Celtic, Folk-baroque and original music. Over 100 draw prizes will be given away!
  • When: Friday Nov 11th, Noon-8PM (also Sat, Nov 12th: 10AM-5PM; Sun, Nov 13th: 10AM-4PM)
  • Where: Pearkes Recreation Centre, 3100 Tillicum Rd.
  • Admission: $5.50 per day or only $6.00 for all 3 days! Children 12 & under free. Free parking. The fair is wheelchair accessible.

How They So Softly Rest – CapriCCio Vocal Ensemble

  • What: CapriCCio Vocal Ensemble presents its annual Remembrance Day concert, “How They So Softly Rest”, featuring music of Healey Willan, John Rutter and others; a World Premiere of “The Anxious Dead”, a work by Canadian composer Justin H. Bush and based on the John McCrae poem of the same name; with Traditional Observances for the Battle of the Somme centenary.
  • When: Friday Nov 11, 2016, 2 PM – 4 PM
  • Where: Christ Church Cathedral, 930 Burdett Ave
  • Admission: Veterans free admission. 12 & under free with ticket holder. $25/$22/$10 available at Ivy’s Bookshop, Munro’s Books, Long and McQuade, Christ Church Cathedral Office, online or at the door.

Art Battle!

  • What: Get ready for an exciting night of live competitive painting in downtown Victoria! Painters create the best work they can in 20 minutes. As they work, patrons move around the easels, closely watching the creative process. At the end of the round, the audience votes democratically for their favourite painting and bids in silent auction to take the work home. Art Battle happens in cities across Canada and there have been over 400 events coast to coast!
  • When: Friday Nov 11th, 7PM-11PM, doors at 7PM
  • Where:  Victoria Event Center, 1415 Broad St.
  • Admission: $20 General Admission, $10 Student/Senior. Purchase online. All Victoria AB events are ALL AGES with a 19+ bar.

Victoria Royals vs Tri-City Americans

  • What: The Victoria Royals will be hosting Remembrance Day on Friday, November 11 when they take on the Tri-City Americans. Any Canadian Forces member that shows their military ID prior to the game will receive a free ticket. The Royals will be wearing Military themed jerseys, which will feature the Canadian Forces logo, in honour of the Canadian Forces, past and present.
  • When: Friday Nov 11th, 7:05PM
  • Where:  Save On Foods Memorial Centre – 1925 Blanshard St
  • Admission: Any Canadian Forces member that shows their military ID prior to the game will receive a free ticket. Tickets available online or at the box office

Saturday, Nov 12

7th Annual Holiday Vintage Fair!

  • What: Over 35 vendors selling vintage festive decorations, clothing, jewelry, up-cycled creations & much more at this popular event. Find something truly unique for yourself or that special loved one. The crispy fish food truck will be on site all day too! Proudly supporting WIN – Victoria Women In Need Community Cooperative.
  • When: Saturday Nov 12th, 10AM-4PM
  • Where: Leonardo Da Vinci Centre, 195 Bay st
  • Admission: $4 at the door, children 12 & under free.

Wishart Elementary 23rd Annual Craft and Gift Fair

  • What: Start your Christmas shopping early during the 23rd annual craft and gift fair. Great community event to support our local artisans, with over 40 vendors on site. The Wishart Elementary PAC generously donated a table to Westshore student Emma Locke, founder of Two Hearts. One Wish. to sell her creations, with funds raised to support the BC Children’s Hospital. Grade 5’s will be hosting a bake sale, all funds to support the “Grade 5 FUN DAY.”

  • Where: Wishart Elementary, 3310 Wishart Rd, Colwood
  • Admission: Admission by donation. Free parking.

3rd Annual “Coats On The Bus”

  • What: Victoria Coats for Kids are hoping to fill a bus with winter coats for children and youth (newborn to 18 yrs old) in need of a warm coat. Consider donating gently (no rips or broken zippers please) used, clean, winter coats. Coats in child, youth and adult sizes are greatly appreciated. Hillside Sears is supporting the “Coats on the Bus” event and offering 40% off of ALL coats being purchased for donation. Make a donation of a winter coat and receive an entry to win a $50 gift certificate from Nails Forever.

Salmon Sensation – Drop-in Event

  • What: Salmon have returned to the rivers. Drop in anytime for fishy-fun activities, a craft and guided walks with CRD naturalists along the Charters River. A close-up look at these magnificent fish as they return to spawn and complete their life cycle awaits. All ages event. 
  • When: Saturday Nov 12, 11AM-2PM
  • Where: Meet at Charters Interpretive Centre off Sooke River Road. Wheelchair accessible.

Moscow Ballet Performance Swan Lake

  • What: Moscow Ballet’s celebrated Swan Lake in Victoria at Royal Theatre and a fund-raising partnership with Swan Lake Christmas Hill Sanctuary. A portion of each ticket sold using the code SWAN will benefit the sanctuary.

Requiems by Fauré and Duruflé

  • What: Victoria Philharmoic Choir, under the direction of Peter Butterfield, will perform with organist Michael Molnar, chamber orchestra, and soloists Rachel Allen and Andrew Greenwood. Enjoy the elegant and contemplative requiems by French organist-composers Fauré and Duruflé.

Band of Rascals

  • What: The Victoria, BC based four-piece has quickly established itself as a major force in the Western Canadian music scene; the result of an overwhelmingly successful year of sold out shows, multiple festival slots and the release of their critically acclaimed self-titled debut EP.

Look out for kids activities, fundraising tables and door prizes.

Going Squirrelly – Guided Walk

  • What: What does it take to survive as a squirrel? With a CRD Regional Parks naturalist, discover what keeps these furry creatures busy at this time of year. Ages 5+.

Sunday Funday at the Public Market

  • What: If you’re looking for something to do this Sunday, come down to enjoy live music, lots of local artisans selling their handmade items, as well as delicious lunch options available from permanent vendors! Raising awareness, support and funds for the return of a permanent downtown marketplace in Victoria, BC.
