Christmas music – some people love it, some people can’t stand it.
One thing is for certain, with December upon us and the Holiday Season in full swing, the option of avoiding it is not an easy one.
So whether you’re jamming out to “Daddy Looked a lot like Santa” or frantically switching between radio stations avoiding those festive jingles, don’t fret, we can all coexist.
Below are the five best holiday-themed concerts providing fans with good ol’ year-round music (Okay, there may be a few holiday tunes mixed in we make no promises).
1) Funk The Halls with The Funk Hunters
- What: It doesn’t get much funkier around the holidays than this. Vancouver-based duo The Funk Hunters are bringing their holiday dance party to Victoria for back to back shows on Friday, December 9th and Saturday, December 10th. With support from Dirty Radio, Pigeon Hole, and Astrocolor (DJ Set) this show is guaranteed to be a festive West Coast funky bass music affair.

2) The 9th Annual Jon and Roy Holiday Special
- What: This holiday classic is in its ninth year and has become an institution in the Victoria music scene. Folk duo Jon and Roy along with guests Daniel Wesley, Fox Glove, and Fintan O’Brien will be bringing some holiday cheer to the picturesque Alix Goolden Hall for all ages to enjoy.

3) 19th Annual Boxing Day The Stir Fry Way
- What: Another institution of the holiday music scene is the annual Stir Fry party with DJs Murge, Verse, Salamander, Wood, Justin Brave, Phlo, and KIA. What began at Steamer’s, moved to Lucky, and is now making its debut at Sugar is an annual get together of old and new friends playing a unique blend of hip hop, breaks, dancehall, electro, and mash-ups.

4) Spirit of 150 Victoria – First Night Celebrations
- What: Kick off Canada’s 150th year of confederation with family-friendly activities, live music, and a firework display in the Inner Harbour. Dear Rouge, Alex Cuba, Vic High R&B Band with The Midnights, The Lekwungen Dancers, and more will be performing between 5PM – 9PM before a grand firework display lights up the Inner Harbour at 9:00PM.V

5) NYE with Jesse Roper and guests Deep Sea Gypsies and No Liars
- What: After the firework display in the Inner Harbour all you 19+ party people can head up to Sugar NightClub for a New Year’s Eve bash with the Metchosin One. Jesse Freakin’ Roper will be taking the stage with guests Deep Sea Gypsies and No Liars for what will be the go-to New Year’s Eve party of 2016. Get your tickets quick because this one won’t take long to sell out!
