RCMP say foul play is suspected after human remains were discovered near the Malahat summit on Friday.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is now investigating.
Emergency vehicles converged on the scene at the Split Rock rest stop at the highway’s summit after the human remains were discovered in the wooded area below the pull off.
No details about the cause of death have been released.
An autopsy has been scheduled for later in the week.
