A heartfelt show of patriotism is about to take place in Sidney, and Town Crier Kenny Podmore wants YOU to be a part of it!
On April 30th, Podmore is organizing a mass singing of the national anthem to be recorded on video, for Canada’s 150th birthday on July 1st.
He wants as many people as possible to come to Sidney’s Beacon Park (at the bandshell on the waterfront) at 2 PM.
A couple of rehearsal rounds will be followed by the actual video being recorded.
Most of the work is being done purely by volunteers, and the Sidney Business Improvement Area Society are sponsoring the project.
Podmore hopes to have Sidney lead the way to sparking the nation’s 150th birthday celebrations, and wants to inspire other communities to host similar festivities of their own.
So it doesn’t matter if you’re a professional singer, or if your only audience is your showerhead – “Just show up,” says Podmore.
