BC Transit offers two days of unlimited travel to high school grads

With Graduation Day quickly approaching for thousands of high school students across the province, BC Transit is recognizing their accomplishments with a special transit pass in June.

The GradPASS gives Grade 12 students free, unlimited travel for two days during the month of June.

A total of 22,000 cards will be handed out to students in communities with the BC Transit system, including Victoria.

“I would like to congratulate the class of 2017 on their accomplishment and wish them continued success as they start the next chapter of their lives,” said BC Transit President and Chief Executive Officer Manuel Achadinha.

To use the GradPASS, students have to scratch off their two chosen travel days and show the card to their bus driver. The pass is not transferable.

The special pass was first introduced in Vancouver in 1988 before the Victoria Regional Transit System adopted the program in 1990.

It has since grown to include 50 communities across the province.

“Transit provides a safe transportation option, and I encourage graduates to take advantage of this free sustainable transportation opportunity.”

The will be delivered to the secondary schools who then distribute them to the grade 12 students.
