A man wanted in connection with a shooting on Sunday was taken into custody after a lengthy standoff on Kings Road.
Police were called just after 2:20 a.m. after a woman reported that someone shot at her vehicle in the area of Ryan and Shelbourne Streets.
Officers converged on the area and located a vehicle that had damage consistent with a gunshot. Police located a residence believed to be associated to the suspect in the 1700-block of Kings Road.
The Emergency Response Team were called in and remained on the scene throughout the day making calls for a person they considered armed and dangerous to come out of the home.
The man was later located in James Bay after ERT members raided the home and discovered the suspect had left the area.
“Officers including members from the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, the Forensic Identification section, Major Crime Detectives and K9 members were on scene for the majority of the day looking for evidence and executing a search warrant at the residence,” VicPD said in a statement.
The suspect remains in custody and police are recommending several charges including attempted murder, possession of prohibited weapon, unlawfully discharge a firearm into or at a place, as well as numerous firearms offences.
