Surprise! A wind warning for Greater Victoria has been issued by the federal weather agency.
Environment Canada says westerly winds are expected to develop near Juan de Fuca Strait this afternoon, as a strong cold front moves across the south coast.
Gusts of 70 to 90 km/hr are expected.
The strong winds will ease overnight as the front moves into the Interior.
“Gusty winds can damage soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events,” reads the weather statement. “High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.”
Temperatures are expected to hover around the low to mid 20s all week.
