West Shore RCMP were called to Colwood Creek Park after “extensive” damage was discovered by a park user Friday morning.
At around 7:00 a.m., a park user reported seeing several light standards with wiring exposed throughout the park on Sun Ridge Valley Dr.
A control box for the park was also damaged.
The City of Colwood believes the damage will exceed $5,000.
The Island District RCMP Forensic Identification Section is assisting with the investigation.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed anyone suspicious around the park overnight to contact them at 250-474-2264. Or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
