BC Ferries’ Newest Vessel on Display at Ogden Point

Share

BC Ferries’ latest addition to its fleet has arrived in Victoria.

After a 41-day journey from Gdansk, Poland, the Salish Raven is now docked at Ogden Point while it clears Canadian Customs.

The ship is scheduled to proceed to the BC Ferries refit facility in Richmond, BC in advance of its operational debut in the Southern Gulf Islands this fall.

Last of a Trio

The Salish Raven follows the Salish Orca and Salish Eagle as the third natural gas-powered ship introduced to BC since the start of 2017.

The three Salish Class ships each carry 145 vehicles and up to 600 passengers and crew, with service speeds up to 15.5 knots.

“The Salish Class vessels are high quality, state-of-the-art vessels, which will serve British Columbians and tourists alike for decades to come,” said Mark Collins, BC Ferries’ President and CEO.

Due to the low winter temperatures in Gdansk, the Salish Raven is currently lacking artwork, but custom hull designs created by Musqueam Nation’s Thomas Cannell will be applied over the coming months.
