BC Transit to introduce Real-Time tracking in 2018

Share

Have you found yourself asking “Where’s the bus?” on a daily basis? BC Transit might finally supply your answer next year.

Citified reports that a GPS tracking system in Victoria is on track to be released in 2018.

Additional details regarding the firm chosen to implement the system and the methods they’ll use will be released over the next few months, according to BC Transit Communications Manager, Jonathan Dyck.

Transit riders might’ve had a reprieve when the Transit App introduced its “GO” feature earlier this year, but that tracking feature relied on users, rather than the bus system itself.

Plans for the city-wide tracking system were first unveiled in December, 2016. If all goes according to plan, transit users will be able to track busses on their computers, smartphones, and via real-time updates to screens at transit exchanges.
