From waterparks to cleaning up the ocean, here are 12 things happening around town this weekend, Saturday June 10 and Sunday, June 11.
SATURDAY
Esquimalt Adventure Park Grand Opening Celebration
- What: The Esquimalt Adventure Park is open and you’re invited to grand openeing celebration! Wear your flip-flops, bring the sunscreen and get ready to kick off the BEST. SUMMER. EVER. Welcome remarks and acknowledgement of project partners will commence at 12:30pm followed by a mega soaker SPLASH, cake and the community block party! Festivities continue until 4:00pm.

Race for Life
- What: Invitation open to everyone. Hosted by Greater Victoria BMX, all funds raised to support the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation Leukemia Cancer Research. Riders are encouraged to collect funds before and after the race. Special prizes based on amount raced.

Taking it to the Street
- What: Making dreams come true! Annual road hockey tournament in support of Help Fill a Dream Foundation. Family fun zone, food, raffle and more. Register a team or hang out to support.

Family Can Day
- What: Mystery Construction build from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Kids face painting, scavenger hunt, prizes and make sure to say hi to our local mascots Marty the Marmot and Harvey The Harbour Cat.
- When: Saturday June 10 from 11:00am – 2:00pm
- Where: Hillside Shopping Centre
Show & Shine
- What: Show off your bike or stop by to check out the custom bikes at this first Harley-Davidson Show & Shine event Limited registrations, opens at 10:00 am. Win a trophy from one of the seven categories. Music, tattoo booth, barber shop booth and food trucks on site.

View Royal Fire Rescue – Open House
- What: Giving thanks to the community! Kids can explore all nine stations organized by the firefighters and earn themselves a Junior Firefighter certificate. Hot dogs and treats.

- Where: View Royal Public Safety Building, 333 Old Island Highway
5th Annual Family Theatre Festival
- What: Enjoy five performances, hosted by the Kaleidoscope Theatre. There will be a children’s activity tables. Daisy and her musical pal Cam will be leading a fun-filled hour of song, play and merriment. Entertainment from our local professional magician Paul Kilshaw and the award-winning children’s performer The Purple Pirate aka Dustin Anderson. Local food trucks Hungry Rooster Perogies and Jackson’s Ice Cream will be on site to fill your belly and take care of that sweet tooth.

SUNDAY
World Oceans Day
- What: Celebrate the oceans, along with the diversity and abundance of marine life in the Salish Sea. Funds raised to support local conservative projects and green initiatives and Fisherman’s Wharf. A photo booth will be available all day.

- Where: Fisherman’s Wharf, 1 Dallas Road
- 11:15 am – First Nation Blessing
- 11:30 am – First Nations Dance Performance
- 12:00 pm – first live dive
- 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm – face painting
- 2:00 pm – second live dive
Beach Clean-Up
- What: Monthly beach clean up. Gloves, bucket and bags provided. Snacks available from Whole Foods Victoria.
- When: Sunday June 11 from 11:00am – 1:00pm
- Where: Esquimalt Lagoon
Vancouver Island Comic Con
- What: Hosted by the Superheroes of Victoria with special guest Chris Williams – Academy Award winner and director of Big Hero 6 arriving from 5:30-pm – 8:00m. This fun event is for all ages. You will find comics, toys, games, artists, cosplay contest, demos, panels, crafts and more.
- When: Sunday June 11 from 10:00am – 8:00pm

Water Ballet in the harbour
- If you are near the Inner Harbour today, don’t forget the world-famous Victoria Harbour Ferry Ballet is starting today at 10:45 am and every Sunday.
There will also be a bonus Saturday show in July and August.
