A careless smoker in Langford learned the hard way that littering lit cigarette butts can cost a hefty price.
An unknown man tossed his cigarette out of his car window, right in front of a West Shore RCMP cruiser.
The officer pulled over the driver, informing him that throwing away a lit cigarette is an offence under the BC Wildfire Act.
The man then received a ticket under the Wildfire Act for $575.
The fine comes a day after a fast-moving wildfire burned an area along Sooke Road, including one home.
Tossing a lit cigarette out the window is a bad idea. Even more so when a police car is right behind… $575 fine. #bcwildfire #seriously
