The 93-year-old woman missing for over 24 hours has been found alive.
Virginia Leong left for an early morning walk at 6:30 am on Monday and was found at 1:30 pm on Tuesday afternoon.
Leong was located on a trail the in 1900-block of Meadow Vale Drive in View Royal. She was dehydrated and tired. A passerby spotted her and called the BC Ambulance Service. Leong was then taken to the hospital.
Leong isn’t from Victoria and not familiar with the area, which caused her family serious concern for her safety after she disappeared. She is also diabetic and could have had health issues if she didn’t eat for a long period of time.
An RCMP helicopter and search and rescue crews were called in to assist Victoria Police, with much of the search taking place along the Gorge Waterway.
Family members said they were relieved she was found and grateful for support from the community.
Leong had been visiting family for a wedding.
