After being briefly replaced by the “Crossroads Grill House,” White Spot has returned to Mount Newtown X Road along the Pat Bay Highway.
The original location became something of a landmark in Central Saanich but underwent the rebrand in late 2016.
Original Franchise Came to a Crossroads
Cassidy Pepper, White Spot Marketing Manager, revealed that the reasoning behind the abrupt name changes is simpler than you might think.
“The [Pat Bay White Spot] location was previously a franchise. The franchise contract term ended and the owner decided not to re-sign as a White Spot. They tried their hand at their own brand but shortly after contacted us to see if we’d buy it back. We decided to take the restaurant back as a corporate location. And the rest is history.”
However, as demonstrated in the comment section of the Facebook post above, not many people enjoyed the service at the old White Spot. So, we asked whether staff changes had accompanied the shift in names.
“Yes, we have a whole new management team in there and the majority of staff are all new,” said Jennifer Hoard, a business consultant for White Spot. “We have a couple of servers and a couple in the kitchen that had worked with White Spot previously. It is a great group of people and we are pretty fortunate to have had the opportunity to put this team together for the opening.”
So what do you say, rrrrr… you ready for a Pirate Pak?
