Sidney/North Saanich RCMP have arrested three youths who were found with stolen property belonging to vehicles in the Dean Park area of North Saanich.

A resident contacted the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP Detachment at approximately 3 am on July 27th. They reported seeing suspicious persons with flashlights near a broken-into vehicle.

Police dog to the rescue

Officers arrived on scene shortly after. Then, with the help of the Victoria Police Department’s police dog, three youths were located and subsequently arrested nearby without incident.

Police will be forwarding a report to Crown Counsel for their assessment of criminal charges.

Yet another reminder…

The Sidney/North Saanich RCMP are reminding the public to keep their vehicles locked and not to store valuables in them. There has been an increase in reports of vehicles being broken into recently, and police have increased patrols in the area.

If you have been the victim of a similar crime recently, please contact the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP as some items located cannot be easily traced to owners, and further charges may arise.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sidney / North Saanich RCMP Detachment, their local police, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
