UPDATED | Police issue urgent appeal in search of man who made comments of concern

Share

UPDATE | Police have located the man who was the subject of an alert earlier today.

Victoria police were called to a report of a man on a rooftop in the 500-block of William Street just after 2:30pm.

The man was uncooperative when officers arrived, leading to an activation of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, including the Crisis Negotiators.

A short time later, he was taken into custody without further incident, according to police.

VicPD had been searching for the man, and a public alert issued after he was involved in an apparent attempted robbery and a theft early in the day.

While no one was injured in these incidents, the man made statements that caused those involved to be concerned for his health and safety.

In both cases the victims called police and shared not only the details of the incidents, but their concerns for the man involved.

“Thank you for your help in locating the man so we are able to connect him with the assistance that he may require. Our investigations into the earlier incidents remain ongoing and we are not able to comment on possible charges at this time.”
