The smoke in Victoria on Wednesday didn’t all originate from wildfires in the interior. A boat fire also broke out at the popular tourist spot, Fisherman’s Wharf.
A small vessel caught fire just off Laurel Point near Victoria Marine Fuels.
Authorities set the boat adrift to prevent the flames from spreading, before towing it near Victoria West.
Witnesses told Victoria Buzz that firefighters asked people near the scene to leave due to fuel on the boat.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze withing half an hour. The boat then sank and was recovered by C-Tow.
