A fire initially reported late last night continues to burn around Blackjack Forest Service Road, near Nanaimo.
Believed to be human-caused, Nanaimo Fire Rescue now says the fire is under control. However, it expanded overnight from 0.3 hectares to at least 0.7 hectares in size.
Over a dozen firefighters are on the scene, as well as a helicopter, excavator, and water tender.
Firefighters got an earlier bush fire under control just outside Nanaimo on Sunday, jus as this fire sparked.
More details to come.
