Patients at BC Children’s Hospital received a surprise, in-character visit from Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow on Monday.
The Hollywood star reprised his Pirates of the Caribbean role for over five hours, greeting every single patient.
Arriving secretly at 3:30 pm, Depp was guided by three former patients. He spent one-on-one time with everyone from teens and parents to toddlers and newborns.

Depp is currently in Vancouver filming Richard Says Goodbye, a film about a college professor diagnosed with a terminal illness.
“Meeting Captain Jack was a dream come true for my daughter,” Sarah Kertcher, mother of 7-year-old ‘First Mate’ Madison, told Daily Hive. “He never broke character once and was so generous with his time. He was truly here for the kids and it brought tears to my eyes to see how special he made each one feel.”
Though this was Depp’s first visit to the BC Children’s Hospital, it isn’t the first time he’s taken time to meet kids.
Back in 2015 he dropped by the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in South Brisbane, Australia. The resulting video is some of the most heartwarming footage you’ll ever watch.
