One man has been arrested and faces multiple charges resulting from an alleged sexual assault that occurred Wednesday morning in the 1900-block of Store Street.
VicPD said they were first made aware of the incident just before 1:30 a.m. when a witness flagged down officers to report it.
Officers searched the area and were able to locate the victim.
“Given the nature of the report, Patrol officers flooded the area and were able to locate and pull over the suspect’s vehicle a short time later,” said Victoria police spokesman Bowen Osoko. “[The] subsequent investigation led to a three-day driving prohibition and a three-day impoundment of the suspect’s vehicle. He was arrested for the criminal allegations.”
Police are recommending charges of sexual assault with a weapon, assault with a weapon, robbery, assault and choking to overcome resistance.
“Our investigation is ongoing at this time, however, this does not appear to be a random incident as the suspect and victim are known to each other,” said Osoko.
The suspect remains in custody
