The body found on a property in Metchosin this week has been identified as 56-year-old man, Richard Curtis Milligan.

In what police are calling a homicide, the View Royal resident’s body was found in the area of Malloch Rd at approximately 12:00 pm on Wednesday.

Police would not say who led them to the body.

According to CTV, Milligan is the registered owner of the property.

“As the investigation is progressing, we are now treating this death as a homicide,” said West Shore RCMP spokesman Const. Alex Bérubé. “Police have been working around the clock since day one of the investigation in hope to shed some light around the circumstances of his death.”

Bryce Starling, a 20-year-old professional mountain biker, told Victoria Buzz the five-acre wooded property is used heavily by himself and other mountain bikers. His father also uses the rented property for his construction business.

Police say it doesn’t appear that the public is at risk.

Investigators would like to hear from anyone who may have witnesses suspicious activity or individuals that may have been in the area of Malloch Rd and Gillespie Rd from August 19 to August 21.
