RCMP have released a photo of a suspect wanted in connection to an early-morning armed robbery at a pizzeria in Sidney.

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said a man entered the Panago Pizza on Bevan Avenue just before 1 a.m. on Friday, and headed directly for the area behind the counter. Brandishing what appeared to be a handgun, he told an employee to empty the till.

At the time of the crime he was wearing green camouflage pants, a black long-sleeved hoodie, dark shoes, a balaclava and gloves. The clothing believed to be worn by the suspect was later located. The clothing will be sent off for forensic testing.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian, with blonde hair and blonde eyebrows. He had a medium athletic build and is believed to be in his late 20’s to early 30’s.

He was wearing a black long-sleeved hoodie, green camouflage pants, dark shoes, a balaclava, and gloves. Police said the suspect spoke with “a smokers voice”.

Police are asking anyone who may have been awake or around the area of Sidney near Bevan Avenue, 5th Avenue, Ocean Avenue, Oakville Avenue, or Highway 17 between midnight and 2 a.m. on Saturday Aug 12th to contact them at 250-656-3931, even if they believe they may not have seen the suspect.
