First-year students won’t be the only new faces around the University of Victoria campus this September…

The NBA’s Toronto Raptors have announced that they’ll run their preseason training camp at UVic’s Centre for Athletics, Recreation, and Special Abilities (CARSA) facilities from Tuesday, September 26, to Friday, September 29, 2017.

Intrasquad Game Open to the Public

Though practices will be closed to the public, fans can watch an open intrasquad game on September 28.

“It’s an honour to visit a different part of Canada and prepare for our season in the first-class facilities at the University of Victoria,” Raptors’ head coach Dwayne Casey said in a press release.

“We are extremely proud being Canada’s only NBA franchise. Our players and staff feel enthusiasm for basketball in every city we have visited. We don’t ever want to take that for granted.”

This marks the fourth consecutive year the Raptors will hold training camp in British Columbia.

Tickets for the much anticipated intrasquad game at CARSA will go on sale Thursday, Sept. 14 at 9:30 a.m. online and in person at CARSA Membership Services.

Proceeds from the event go to Golf for Kids Charity Classic, which supports several local charities.

Blue seat (assigned) $50, Gold seat (general) $30, Standing room (general) $20, UVic student section (general) $20.

Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a guardian 16 years of age or older.

Tickets are first come, first serve.
