You can skate with the Victoria Royals this Sunday

Share

Sharpen your skates!

You and your kids – if you have any – can skate with the Victoria Royals after they battle the Kamloops Blazers in a Saturday-Sunday set this upcoming weekend.

On Sunday, the Save-on-Foods Memorial Center will stay open post-game where fans can meet the team and get their skate on.

If the matches go anything like the Royals’ first two games, they should be in a pretty good mood.

Kamloops on receiving end of rout

Similar to how the Royals crushed the Giants to start the season, outscoring them 13-2 over two games, the Kamloops Blazers suffered similar defeats to the Kelowna Rockets, losing by scores of 6-1 and 5-2.

Kamloops plays against Vancouver Friday night before facing Victoria in consecutive matchups. Given the challenging start to their season, they should have plenty motivation to battle fatigue.

Ridiculous projections from last weekend’s domination

Any time a team has played two games and scored 13 goals, there will be some preposterous stats to play with.

Matthew Phillips, after scoring 3 goals and 3 assists, is on pace for 108 goals and 108 assists. It’s possible he cools off from that.

Jared Legein, with a goal and four assists, is on pace for 41 goals and 144 assists. That pace might slow down, but after spending all of last season in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, he looks to be fitting just right in with his new teammates.
